Fear, both personal and corporate, has set the tone for much of many America's reception of the last few years. Has this paranoia benefitted the average person? made life safer for the average American? and even if so, is this safety worth the freedoms it seems to cost: government agencies going unprosecuted for illegally accessing phone millions of Americans telephone records, zenophobia and control of the masses by fear, increased hassles at the border and unwarranted scrutiny of average Americans' lives, etc.? Let's hope Obama's administration and the current members of Congress continue to shift the tone, and without the least undue compromise.
